A huge shout out to the E&T team whose relentless efforts have won Gainwell the strategically important association with the prestigious Atal Tunnel, thus leading the organization to play an important role in augmenting the strength of the country’s border infrastructure.
Atal Rohtang tunnel is the world’s longest tunnel (8.8 kms), above 3000-meter altitude that will ensure all-weather connectivity to people of Lahaul and Spiti who remain cut off from main stream livelihood during winters for 6 months and will also reduce travel time between Manali and Leh by 5-6 hours. The tunnel will also safeguard Indian territories from adjacent country mainly China.
The team presented the proposal for 4x2000 kVA 3516B Cat DG set to power the all-weather tunnel. This engine comes with the capability of operating at the highest altitude of 3050 meters with operating temperature range from -22C to 40C.
Considering the number of projects coming up in J&K that will connect different regions with tunnels viz. Z- Morh Tunnel, Zozilla Tunnel, Chardham Rail Projects, Kokan Railway projects and others, this region holds strategic importance for the nation and offers attractive prospects to Gainwell. The successful deployment at the Atal Rohtang Tunnel is going to be a reference for DG business in these harsh terrains.
